Well, thanks to wonderful volunteers, officials and competitors we had another fabulous event.....sort of the
season's finale. Mike McLennon of Brenham, TX was our (tough and fair) judge and everyone especially appreciated his
input. Saturday afternoon he took all the Training level drivers out to the dressage ring and walked through their
test with them, sharing his expertise with our drivers. I had many positive comments from people about how much they
learned from him. We wish Mike the very best with his team of Friesian/Quarter Horses at the WEG.......I am sure the
Pacific Northwest will be cheering for him. Erika Matulich from Tampa, FL was our TD and was a joy to work with.
Competitors and I found her open, positive and constructive. We owe Mike and Erika a big thanks for their praise of
our course.
People once again took advantage of the two back-to-back events as a learning tool. Several of the competitors were
convinced they were ready to try Preliminary level, so they learned another dressage test Saturdy night and moved up a
level on Sunday--they did well, and I think all will be competing at Preliminary next year. Will Bron went from Training
Pair of Horses on Saturday to Training Tandem of Horses on Sunday (his Tandem debut) and did a phenomenal job. In fact,
at his final salute in Dressage Mike hollered at him "Stay with the Tandem!" He did well in Cones, and later in the day
he impressed everyone in his handling of the hazards.
The weather was nice, the event went smoothly, the food was good..........and the friendship shared topped it all off.
Thanks to our competitors for another great event-
Ken and Maureen
